We have all read and heard much about the CORP Rail Switchyard Project that seemed to be DOA. After being stalled for the last two years, the issue was to be settled over the next few weeks through the judicial process. A jury was to decide the fate of this important project for Roseburg. Well, I am happy to report the plan to relocate the current switching operation from downtown Roseburg to the Winchester yard is a “go”.
As a result of a settlement agreement reached on February 25, 2010 between the two parties (see attachment), the project is anticipated to be completed by the summer of 2010.
As you can imagine, this is great news for all the private and public entities that will benefit from the safety and economic development aspects of this project. We view this as “win-win” because both parties allowed compromise to rule the day and reached an agreement to move forward. This investment will result in significant benefits at the state, regional and local level for years to come. Photo by News Review Respectfully,
