How do I apply for a position with the City?

City job openings are posted on this web site, the City Manager's Office at Roseburg City Hall, the Oregon State Employment Division and advertised in the Roseburg News-Review. Job listings are also available by phone via the City of Roseburg Job Line at (541) 440-1199. If the City has an opening, applicants must complete and submit an official application form on or before the closing date. The application may be downloaded from this web page, picked up in person at the Human Resources Office at Roseburg City Hall (third floor) or requested to be sent by mail by calling the Job Line. It's important to note that applications are only accepted for positions that are currently open and that resumes are not accepted either in addition to or in lieu of the application.

Once you have completed an application form, please mail or hand deliver it to the City of Roseburg Human Resources Office using the contact information listed below. If you submit your application by mail, it must be post marked no later than 5:00 p.m. of the closing date. We do not accept applications via fax or e-mail. (Note: A job application is an important reflection on you. Make sure you emphasize the knowledge, skills, abilities and employment experiences that best prepare you for the type of work for which you are applying.)

How does the selection process work?

Applications are thoroughly reviewed and screened by the Human Resources Director. Since these are competitive selection processes, applicants whose backgrounds appear to most closely match the needs of the particular vacancy will be considered. The Human Resources Office contacts candidates selected for testing and/or interview. This process can take from one to four weeks after the closing date. Due to the number of applicants and the limited number of job opportunities, not all applicants proceed in the recruitment process.

How do I find out my application status?

Every person applying for a position is notified as to the status of their application. Notifications are sent to applicants who have not been selected for interview, who are interviewed but not selected and to applicants who are selected.

How does the post selection process work?

All successful applicants must consent to a post-offer physical provided by the City's contract physician. This physical shall include a drug screening and any other necessary screenings required for the position offered.
